Sixt Portugal Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

General Rental Information
The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving licence.
The driver has to be in possession of a valid driving licence for at least 1 year.
Driving licences from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if:
a) no visa has been entered in the passport.
b) the customer has a visa in his passport and at the time of hire has not been in Europe for longer than 6 months. If he has been in Europe for longer than 6 months, he must present a driving licence from an EU country.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up!

Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of EUR 20.49. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.

Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Age Restrictions
In Portugal, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's licence:
19 years/1 year for vehicles in groups MBMR, MCMR, EBMN, ECME, ECMN, ECMR, EDMR, EDAR, CDMR, CWMR, IDMR.
25 years/1 yearfor vehicles in groups IVMR, SDMR, SWMR, SDAR, LDAR, LDMR, SVMR, FVMR, ETMR, CTMR, LTMR.
For drivers under 21 years of age, a surcharge of EUR 36.90 per rental applies.

Conditions of Payment
Flexi Tariff
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa and Unibanco.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).

Prepaid Tariff
The following credit cards are accepted: Eurocard/Mastercard, AmericanExpress Card, VISA Card, Diners Club. We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
The renter must be the owner of the indicated creditcard. Theauthorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection ofthe vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking of a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the startof rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed such as, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus value added tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.

Generally
All renters are required to place a deposit in the form of a credit card authorization. Deposit amount is based on the sum of the tank of petrol and the insurance excess amount.
At the end of the rental all locations accept cash, traveller's checks, credit or debit cards as payment for rental charges. Personal checks are not accepted.

General Insurance Conditions
Third Party Insurance (TI)
Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of EUR 50 Mill for personal injuries and material damages. The hirer is liable up to the maximum amount of liability for accidents caused by the hirer, damage caused by parking, theft or any damage caused by an unknown third party.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
All rates include LDW.
The customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 960.- (MBMR, MCMR, EBMN, ECME, ECMN, ECMR, EDMR, EDAR) / EUR 1.560,- (ETMR, CDMR, CWMR, IDMR, IVMR) / EUR 2.100,- (SDMR, SWMR, SDAR, FVMR, SVMR, CTMR) / EUR 3.000,- (LDAR, LDMR, LTMR).

Top Cover LDW
If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover LDW to eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.
The cost of Top Cover LDW is as follows: see table
If Top Cover LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.- EUR

Tire and Glass Coverage (GT)
Tire and Glass Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
The cost of GT is as follows: see table
If GT is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If GT is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: EUR 0.-.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
By taking out personal accident insurance the insurance coverage can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.
The cost of PAI is as follows: see table
By taking out PAI the limit of liability is:
EUR 15,000.- for invalidity,
EUR 15,000.- for decease,
EUR 1,500.- for medical costs.

Top Cover PAI
The hirer has the possibility to acccept Top Cover PAI to increase the coverage for personal injuries. Top Cover PAI provides an additional coverage to the renter's clothing and luggage.
The cost of Top Cover PAI is as follows: see table
Top Cover PAI includes up to:
EUR 50,000.- for invalidity,
EUR 50,000.- for decease,
EUR 5,000.- for medical costs,
EUR 250.- for clothing and luggage.

For Delivery/Collection Service a charge of EUR 61.50 applies.

Out Of Hours
An Out Of Hours surcharge of EUR 36.90 occurs for bookings out of opening hours.

One-Way Rentals
National
One-Way-Rentals within Sixt locations in Portugal are free of charge from the third day of rental. For shorter rentals a charge of EUR 61.50 applies.
One-way-Rentals between the mainland and the island of Madeira are not allowed.

International

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.
Foreign Use Charge
A foreign use charge of EUR 24.60 applies for each month or part thereof.

Registration Fee/Road Tax
A road fund licence of EUR 1.86 per day, max. EUR 29.52 per month occurs.

Additional Driver
An Additional Driver Surcharge of EUR 4.31 per day, max. EUR 43.05 for each month or part thereof applies.

Refuelling Charge
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt. If the renter did not purchase the FPO (Fuel Purchase Option) an additional service charge of EUR 18.45 will be applied in addition to the petrol shortage.
Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

General information for your rental:
Please keep in mind that for every rental you are required to present your passport or ID-card, driving license and a Sixt valid method of payment (e. g. a credit card).

In case of breakdown anywhere in Portugal, you can reach our assistance 24 hours a day.

Liability

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
